5-Moments of Hand Hygiene
Hand hygiene is one of the most important practices to be done in all Healthcare Wards. There are certain guidelines from WHO which must be practiced in all ICU and Hospital Wards.
The following picture from the WHO (World Health Organization) emphasizes the important five moments/timings when you should not forget to practice Hand Hygiene (Hand-Wash/Hand-Sanitization) in a proper way.
So the 5-Moments of Handhygiene are:
1. Before touching the patient
2. Before cleaning/aseptic procedure
3. After body-fluid exposure risk
4. After touching a patient
5. After touching patient surroundings. (You have to remember that patient surroundings do not contain a Nursing Station in general, and they generally mean patient Beds, trolleys, beddings, patient rack etc.)
